Jun 15, 2008 · Why does FAFSA ask if you receive child support? I was looking at my FAFSA application and was shocked that they ask if you receive child support. Isn't child support supposed to be for the child and not the parent?? I mean it is supposed to be used to help with the costs of raising a child - it is not supposed to be used for things for the parent.

May 23, 2009 · Also, you should include the annual amount you PAID in child support for the year (what you actually paid, not what you were suppose to pay) on that question about how much you paid in child support. If you are doing the 09-10 fafsa it would be the total amount you paid from Jan - Dec in 2008.
