Due to unfixed bug (issue from 2012 year?) sometimes Chromium-like browsers cannot play .wav from redirected URLs because they "think" that file size is zero. But .mp3 is OK. Opera 12.14 and Firefox play from < audio > tag normally in the same case (redirected URL).

May 11, 2006 · By default, no browser plugin apart from the vlc plugin (which doesn't work properly in Firefox) list any of the file or mime types associated with the common formats like wav and mp3. If you use a MIME Type like audio/wav you will get a missing plugin alert and Firefox will tell you to download Quicktime, even if you already have it.
