Re: MS Hyper-v on DL380 G4. The problem there is that the CPUs on the DL380 G4 don't have VT support. I think you need the Intel 5xxx series processors for VT support, and the G4 series servers are just using the older Xeon CPUs. The G5 Proliants were the first to have the 5100-5400 processors, and the G6 has support for the 5500 CPU's.

Nov 05, 2009 · What complicates things is that the "Generation" labels don't match up. So you have to be very specific about which model you're referring to e.g. the DL385 G2 was sold at the same time as the DL380 G4. The D360/380 systems were 64-bit from the G4 onwards. However the VT-x extensions are only available in the G5 onwards.

Jun 12, 2018 · Hyper-V should never be installed as a role, only directly. Windows Server should not need to be supported on a server at all, as only the hypervisor should be. I assume that HPE also does not support Hyper-V 2016, which is a problem. But if you had to, use Hyper-V 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2016 is all set for you then.
