May 15, 2018 · PNG images has bad quality in IE8. Hi all, I am experiencing bad PNG image quality with IE8, FF3.6 does not exhibit this problem. The PNG images has a transparent background, when I click on an image to enlarge it on my site IE8 creates a black jagged border around the PNG image.

This fix is deprecated and is no longer supported (meaning that I will not help you to get it working with your pages). It was only written to fill the gap while waiting for Internet Explorer to implement PNG alpha. That has now happened in IE 7. Although this fix can make it work in IE 6 as well, that is counter productive for the future of the Web.

Aug 14, 2006 · I just did a test (no IE hacks or helper apps) and can confirm that IE6 definitely supports transparency in at least some PNG-8 images. Just not full alpha transparency in PNG-24 images. PNG-8 often gives sightly better compression than GIF, and that's why I mentioned the option.
