Nov 29, 2017 · If you have a gpt disk and boot from it via non-efi then it does a hybrid boot since it can't write to the mbr. To boot efi with grub2 you need grub2-efi not just grub2. Check the output from either gdisk or lsblk and look for a small partition type ef (or ef00) and a /boot/efi partition.
