I have been using Wallwatcher software for years with older Linksys routers but this router don't seem to have/provide the info any more. Is it possible to enable SNMP on these routers. If this is no longer supported then i will be returning this router and not buying any Linksys devices. Very disapointed.

The router's official firmware does not support SNMP. A 3rd party firmware may get this going on your E3000. Keep in mind though that installing a 3rd party software will render the hardware warranty void.

The router does not really have a feature that will send thorough smtp but it is not an indication that you have no option to check router’s logs and activities. The good thing about this is you can still check the router’s logs and activities by accessing the router remotely through linksyssmartwifi.

I recently had to replace my ASUS router, so I purchased a Linksys EA7500. I have a capped internet connection (250 GB) and I use a SNMP-based monitor tool to measure the amount of data that has been downloaded through the router using my 3 PC's, 2 phones, and tablet to compare to the web-based tool the ISP provides.

May 08, 2006 · But IOS is the exception, not the rule. For instance, on the low-end Cisco stuff (i.e. the Linksys crap) the firmware just contains a small Linux installation so any SNMP support would have to be done by snmpd in userspace. Whether that makes it part of the OS or not is debatable.

Very few of the commercial versions of firmware support SNMP at all and I have found exactly zero that support it in a useful manner. (That includes Linksys, though I haven’t tested them in several years.) About the only ones I count on are running DD-WRT (or similar replacement firmware) rather than the commercial vendor’s OS.
