Jul 26, 2011 · NTFS volumes do mount under Lion without any problems for me, but they are read-only (for the moment at least) I thought Apple might include native read/write support, but I had trouble getting it to mount in read/write mode when doing it manually.

Mac OS X can write to NTFS disks. There is a terminal command (I believe it is this: sudo echo "UUID=ENTER_UUID_HERE none ntfs rw,auto,nobrowse" >> /etc/fstab) that allows Mac to write. As to why Apple didn't enable it by default, I don't know.
