    Dec 07, 2011 · I have a mid-2009 13" MBP with a Samsung 830 (SATA III) SSD in the HDD compartment (I highly recommend the 830!). Even though it's SATA III, it works fine with the SATA II connection in the MBP since it's backwards compatible. No problems whatsoever. The SSD is still MUCH faster than a normal HDD.
