    Feb 05, 2016 · The 5ghz band can be faster, but it won't improve the performance of using your actual Internet connection, as that will likely be slower than the maximum speeds of both of the bands. The 2.4ghz band is pretty noisy with other wifi, microwave ovens, etc. So, if your ranges are pretty short you might do better on 5ghz.

    He said you could try using the older Verizon router (Actiontec MI424WR) and hope that they don't charge you. I think he said the only difference between the older version (the one I have) and the newer version is that the old one does NOT support 5GHz. I said OK and kept the router. On it right now.
