I am not sure about whether Windows 98 can support Widescreen, as I have never tried. But if you have an updated ATI Graphics card, then you should be fine. The monitor you are using probably doesn't support Widescreen. Note: You can use the Compatiblity mode in Vista, in which you tell it to run programs as if the OS was 98.
