(The answer there does mention it may cause unintended consequences. I just figure that linking to it may help search visibility for anyone who currently has the same problem that I had, but has forgotten that they created that file.)

The computer does not have enough hardware resources to cope with the opening of the PTH file. Drivers of equipment used by the computer to open a PTH file are out of date. If you are sure that all of these reasons do not exist in your case (or have already been eliminated), the PTH file should operate with your programs without any problem.
