Jun 19, 2017 · I am developing application with websphere and I am using ojdbc14 jar and connected with Oracle Database 10g. Now I need some clarification whether ojdbc14 jar compatible with oracle 11gr2 or which ojdbc is suites for oracle 11gr2. The JDBC FAQ page has a table that shows that info and LOTS of other info about jdbc jar file and db compatibility.

It is just that ojdbc14.jar does not contain JDBC3 and JDBC4 features. You have to differentiate between runtime and compile time. At runtime you can use ojdbc14.jar in a JRE6 as long as your app code is not using JDBC4 features. If you want to use ojdbc14.jar in the buildpath you might experience probems with not implemented method.

When we upgraded our Oracle database from 8.1.7 to 10.2.0, I was able to use the same Oracle jdbc driver (ojdbc14.jar). So their jdbc driver supports quite a few versions at the same time. Of course it's possible that some of the drivers are buggy, but the plan is to support more versions at the same time.
