Oct 16, 2012 · The new 7.1 amplifier (with 5.1 speaker outputs) does handle the normal bitstream output via Optical cable, AND it also supports the blu-ray player’s “Bistream – Audiophile” output setting. In both cases, the new amp identifies the input data stream from the blu-ray player as “Dolby Digital”.

Mar 13, 2013 · Your Panasonic sc-pt760 does have a Dolby Digital decoder so if it is provided a bitstream audio signal from the optical out on the TV it will give you discrete 5.1 sound. Since it isn't, I suspect you have to check the TV settings to be sure the optical out is outputting bitstream not PCM.
