Doing so will increase the load on that device’s CPU, create a bottleneck, and slow down your network. In short, if your network doesn’t support Jumbo Frames, you’ll get the opposite of the desired results.

Sep 20, 2017 · Starting with the Extreme base stations that sported Gigabit Ethernet ports, Apple used the Broadcom BCM5395 Ethernet chip which does support Jumbo Frames up to 9728 bytes .... however, I've yet to see it actually work.
