May 23, 2007 · Report post @CMD: It looks like two issues to me, one is that Paint.net does not support transparent bitmaps; and two paint.net changes bitmaps by saving them. The article is from the MS Windows 3.1 days, but it shows good info for programmers.

So there’s our purple25 and it’s pretty small, 186 bytes. So that’s how you create a transparent PNG using Paint.net. I’m going to take some opportunity in the future to continue to do little things like this like how to use Paint.net because it’s a pretty useful free tool.

Jul 25, 2011 · So you'll need to use something like GIMP or Paint.NET that does support transparency, to put it bluntly. And since you have already downloaded these, you already have the tools at your disposal. If you want to remove a background, just google for a GIMP tutorial or a Paint.NET tutorial - it's not rocket science!!!
