Apple still sells the Thunderbolt Firewire adapter and is supported on Mac, so it is not obsolete. I want to know why Windows will no longer provide an IEEE1394 driver for this device.

However, the drive is mountable to the Mac OS, and can therefore be shared with the VM as a "Shared Folder", which should give me access to the drive in the VM. There are multiple support threads on this topic, but all of them have failed me.
