Apr 03, 2011 · The PS3 only supports wireless g so it will not recognize your wireless n 5ghz band. To achieve what you are asking you would need a D-Link DAP-1522 to bridge a wireless n connection to your ps3 (the dap will handle the wireless and provide a wired ethernet port to connect your ps3 to the network).

There are just wireless devices that are not set or not compatible to work with a band Ghz network. The wireless capability might not be up to date or limited to work with a 2.4 Ghz network only. In your case, you might want to check with Sony if your PS3 can be updated to work with a 5 GHz network.

Sep 06, 2009 · Does the PS3 Slim support 5ghz wireless? I'm looking to buy a dual band router and know that the fat PS3 only supports 2.4ghz wireless internet. Is this the same with the slim or is that upgraded to 5ghz? It seems a bit stupid to make the best games console and not include high frequency compatability for online gaming. Thanks

PS4 does not support 5GHz. If you must, use an ethernet cable. You can also buy a 5GHz Access Point that will connect to your 5GHz Router, and connect the PS4 to the Access Point using an ethernet cable. One that I know that works is ASUS AC68U, configured as Media Bridge. Like this:
