Aug 01, 2010 · After getting some malware on my home PC, I am considering wiping it out and installing vSphere Hypervisor (and then buying a 32-bit copy of Windows Vista, because my CPU is 64-bit but won't support 64 bit guest OSes). Nov 17, 2009 · It came with Vista. The CPU is an Intel Core2 Quad Q8200. I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional so that I can use XP Virtualization. I have verified that my CPU does NOT support virtualization technology. However, the Intel Q9400 does support virtualization and from everything I can gather is a suitable replacement for the Q8200.

Mar 26, 2009 · The Q6600 does have hardware support the Q8200 does not. Go to the Intel web site and check it for yourself. Microsoft supports both the virtualization that is supported by the hardware (MS Product for this is Hyper-V) and vituralization that is not supported by the hardware (MS products for this are Virtual Server and Virtual PC.)
