no, the R4 is not SDHC compatible. i would reccomend you get a new card, since the R4 is no longer being made and updated, so not all roms work on it. get a Acekard 2 or something like that. i got my acekard for $13.00 and it works great, and would would with your 8GB micro SD.

Got my R4 from Amazon US vendor. I wanted sdhc support with V3, but the R4 I got does not. The USB reader stick does support sdhc. My software was v1.17 on mini disk. R4 does not have the spring for memory card. Packaging only says, R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) Not happy as the vendors are under the wrong subheading on Amazon.
