Jan 01, 2009 · No, the red & white RCA stereo cables won't give you true 5.1 surround. You can get Dolby Pro Logic simulated surround, from them though. The only way to get true Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1/6.1 surround is with HDMI, Optical, or digital coax through digital connections.

Feb 03, 2009 · There is no such thing as 5.1 stereo sound. "Stereo" means two channels of sound. RCA can only handle two channels. So you'll get stereo with RCA cables, not 5.1 surround. Many receivers will have audio listening modes that allow stereo sound to be sent to all 5 speakers. Dolby Pro Logic is an example of just such a surround sound simulator.

Dec 18, 2006 · Yes. digital coax does carry a 5.1 signal for your system I wouldn't spend any money on an expensive cable anything with a phono connector on each end will do (I and many other people would argue that a bent coathanger will suffice for any system as it's a digital signal it either works or it doesn't)
