Apr 16, 2011 · I'm using a Sansa Clip (v1) and Fuze (v2) to play m4a files with rockbox 3.8. They play OK on the fuze, but don't on the clip - I get "Codec failed" and it skips on to the next track. Does the clip support M4A files or is there some hardware limitation (RAM, CPU) that prevents it from doing so?

Is there going to firmware supporting mpeg-4 audio? It is really annoying that I can't use this type of file on the Clip+. Considering my entire libary is in .m4a and iTunes is the most popular music store that sells only .m4a files, I feel it is not right for SanDisk to not include this file type to the Clip+.

As explained above, for all codecs which support gapless and for LAME-encoded MP3s, Rockbox plays back your songs the way they were intended by the mastering engineer to be heard. If the mastering engineer did not include a gap at the end of a file, Rockbox does not add one.
