Oct 14, 2018 · There have been a couple of bugs (all fixed) where the registry keys for Simple MAPI support are set incorrectly if you upgrade (rather than install using the setup program). If the problem shows up after upgrading, try re-installing Thunderbird.

Nov 09, 2018 · I ran in to the same problem with a fresh install of Windows 10 1803 64 bit, Thunderbird and Omni Accounts. I had to make sure that Thunderbird was the default mail client and then use Registry Editor to create a registry entry called MAPI of type REG_SZ and with a value of 1 in these two keys:-

So I'd conclude that thier definition of MAPI compliant is that it requires ExtendedMAPI, even though it apparently failed while making a SimpleMAPI call.

Feb 25, 2016 · I want my default MAPI mail client to be the Windows 10 Mail App, not Outlook. When I click File > Share > Send as Attachment, I want to be able to open the Windows 10 Mail App and use this exclusively. I could not find a way to change the MAPI protocol to be set to the Windows 10 Mail App--the only choice was for Outlook Desktop.
