Hi, Vista does not support trim however the may be utilities from the SSD maker or others that work. Check with the SSD's maker. i.e. Intel has their Optimizer.

Dec 27, 2019 · If the SSD doesn't support TRIM in the first place, then it wouldn't make any difference if you used Windows Vista or 7/8/10, as Windows Vista supports proper partition alignment for SSDs and will do this for you automatically upon formatting the hard drive during installation.

Everything I can find online seems to indicate that Vista does not support TRIM at all. Does anyone have a link to a document that shows that Vista does indeed support TRIM? That being said, I think you can manually run TRIM on your SSD with the drive manufacturer's diagnostic/management software.

Jan 25, 2014 · Yeah, Vista don't have built-in TRIM support, however, you can still use other utilities to TRIM the SSD. Samsung utility does TRIM the drive, even on Vista. You can also get a Sandforce based SSD, since it basically does it on its own... And yeah, all the other rules about SSDs for the other OS's still apply.. turn off defrag & everything else.
