Visual Studio loads framework assemblies from this location instead of from the framework installation directory. When Microsoft says that VS 2010 does not support DNFW 4.5 what they mean is that this directory does not get updated when DNFW 4.5 is installed. Once you have replace the files in this location with the updated DNFW 4.5 files, you will find that VS 2010 will happily function with DNFW 4.5.

May 27, 2012 · According to the documentation you can run .Net 4.5 with Visual Studio 2010 but in order to do so you need to install .Net Framework 4.5 Beta. This also means you will need to load / install it on the system/s your application will be running on.

After installing the 4.5 framework I restarted the machine. In vs 2010 if any new project is created by default 4.0 framework is assigned in project properties Application->Target framework is assigned as .NET Framework 4.0. But I want to change to 4.5 framework. But 4.5 framework is not listed.

Can MS .NET 4.6 be used with Visual Studio 2010. We are still using VS 2010 SP1 to develop a large scale LOB ASP.NET web application.
