    Hello, I am running Windows 7 32-bit on a computer that has more than 4GB of RAM (10GB to be exact), but I understand that Windows 7 32-bit by default can only use 4GB of RAM. My processor does have No Execute (Data Execution Prevention) enabled and has PAE (Physical Address Extension) also enabled.

    Mar 19, 2012 · Now my questions is...If I put 8gb in my laptop (knowing that Windows 7 will only support 4gb, will my hard drive start heavy file paging like Vista did? Or will it gently ignore the extra ram? 32 bits OSs will only address 4gb memory whatever the OS is. Why would you want to put 8gb RAM if you use a 32 bits OS? Use 64 OS with more than 4 gb RAM.

    Nov 26, 2017 · In round numbers XP, Vista and Windows 7 32-Bit Versions of the Operating System can only address 4GB. Does not matter how much memory you have installed 4GB is the max. From that max your video card has XXXMB of ram on the card so that limits the operating system to 4GB minus the cards XXXMB of memory.
