Nov 03, 2011 · Any Ver of windows 7 will run any Quad core CPU . (Win7 Home Premium shows 8 processors on an I7-920, as it has hyperthreading.) You need Pro or Ultimate to support two physical sockets. With two 6 core Xeons, Win7 would show 24 processors (hyperthreading again).
