Jan 09, 2012 · The windows client machine doesn’t request option 119 from DHCP server and Windows DHCP server will never offers that option to the client machine. Hence we don’t get option 119 over to the Windows client machine.

Apr 18, 2018 · When working with Windows based clients you usually don’t come across DHCP option 119 because Windows just doesn’t use it. The Domain Search List for Windows is configured using GPO and not DHCP. But if you also use Apple OS or Linux OS based systems you may want to use this option even if you operate a Windows DHCP Server.

Linux (and Apple OSX, as it turns out) both want a response to option 119, which defines the domain suffix search order. Windows does not request this option and the windows DHCP server does not offer the option at all.
