Nov 15, 2011 · Windows XP is not a supported OS on any Dell Server, and there are no drivers designed to install Windows XP on the server. However you can attempt to load the 2003 drivers. In some cases the 2003 drivers will work and allow the OS to be installed. Here is a link to the R210 downloads, you can find the drivers here.

We have a brand new Dell Poweredge 1950 server with Raid 1 (2) Sata drives Perc 5/i card. We have a requirement to load Windows XP pro sp2 on it. We have the poweredge resource cd however it's only for the server line and not the workstation line.

Jan 10, 2003 · It's a workstation, not a server, thus it does not support data-redundant levels of RAID, ala RAID 1 or RAID 5. Those are only available from Server. For XP Pro your only option is RAID 0.

Dec 20, 2009 · There is software and hardware raid,,Hardware raid is faster than software raid,,windows xp pro,server- software raid uses stripping dynamic disks,,vista does not support software raid 1, from what I have read. If your running a notebook,,Barry Lam has parts in it,,,Desktop--Terry Gou , each makes parts for all.

Apr 15, 2009 · So it seems that an installation of SP3 on windows XP, will break any software RAID arrays that are currently setup. Furthermore, unless I am doing something wrong, it seems like SP3 completely disables the possiblity of enabling software RAID arrays.

Dec 03, 2012 · Windows XP doesn't have built-in software RAID 5, but there are plenty of add-in cards that will work just fine under XP and will give you RAID 5 support. That said, unless you need the space efficiency of RAID 5, I would recommend simply using RAID 1 mirroring.
