Do Xbox 360's with HDMI ports support Consumer Electronics Control (allowing you to control your 360 using your TV remote and stuff). A lot of people are saying no, but some people are experiencing stuff like the 360 turning off when they turn off the TV (with CEC being the culprit).

I was wondering if the HDMI-CEC Standard is supported on the Xbox 360 Slim. I currently use my Xbox-360 4GB as an extender for live TV using the Ceton Cable Card Tuner and Windows 7. Using the Sony A/V Receiver remote (P/N: RM-AAP049) I have the ability to control all of my devices via the Bravia Sync feature of my Sony A/V receiver except the Xbox-360.

Dec 24, 2007 · It seems that CEC was really only put into use with HDMI version 1.3 and the Xbox 360 is HDMI 1.2 so it would not be compliant.

The Xbox One doesn't support HDMI CEC. All control of other devices by the Xbox One is done by the IR blaster, and there's no way to control the console except through a compatible controller, remote or Kinect. An apparently open question is whether the Xbox One even has the hardware to support HDMI CEC.

The ideal solution I think would be to implement libCEC an open source HDMI-CEC system used & developed by the Pulse Eight guys who sell a PC CEC adapter.
