Aug 09, 2016 · Our open source project is hosted on Bitbucket using a Mercurial based repo. Some of our contributors are Mac users and want to use Apple's Xcode IDE. Unfortunately, Xcode only supports Git and SVN. There used to be a Mercurial plugin for Xcode version 4 or 5 but this no longer works after version 5 and the plugin is no longer maintained.

Recently, I upgraded to Lion and Xcode 4.2 and I have created a Xcode project in my source tree. The Xcode by default uses Git and created .git folder in the project folder. Being able to do versioning in Xcode is a plus but it is sort of redundant with both Git and Hg.

Nov 11, 2007 · Well, Interface Builder more precisely, because Xcode doesn't create any interface, Interface Builder only supports Cocoa and Carbon applications and that's for a good reason... It's simply because the way of managing interfaces in Mac OS X is way different than in Windows or Linux.

Xcode doesn't have a public plug-in API, so no, there's no way to directly add support for git to Xcode. You can, however, create scripts for Xcode's script menu that can perform various git operations.

They are several requests - XCode should support Mercurial as well as Git., Xcode 4 should support Mercurial - to put Mercurial support into XCode. So if you can't find a solution now, I'd suggest you to wait until XCode 4 goes out officially. By the way, if you need or want a nice Mac OS X client for Mercurial, you should try MacHg.

Jun 22, 2011 · Since 2003 Perforce had been the sole commercial SCM chosen by Apple for an Xcode integration. We were very disappointed with Apple’s recent move to support only open source SCM solutions and drop Perforce from Xcode’s integration offer. We have made repeated requests to Apple for their API/SDK that would allow us to develop our own integration.
