However, I would advise to avoid a lot of writing to it, sinse Ubuntu will allow you to create files with names that Windows can't read - names with symbols and weird characters. You will be able to rename them from Ubuntu later. Next, NTFS does not support Linux access rights, so you will not be able to place root or /home folder on it.

On the other hand, NTFS is one of a few file systems which are implemented as FUSE (Files in User Space). FUSE file systems are not "native" kernel mode file systems. Nowadays, Linux support for NTFS is very good, high performant and reliable.

If I power it out, pull cables, do weird things and run Linux using a virtual machine (and repeat all madness there) will I have any problems? Obviously a partial transferred file will be lost and it may want a second to revert/repair midway writes. Will Linux handle NTFS as correctly as Windows does? Do I have anything i need to worry about?
