Google's YouTube TV has chosen to be a bit cagey on this topic and not having he subject anywhere on their website or FAQs. The simple answer is no, they don't have surround sound and if you ask them directly on chat, will quickly tell you they are working on it. (As they have been for a long time.)

Dec 06, 2016 · Okay, well, the new cables improved things all around. YouTube still only does 2.1. Seems to be a limitation. The other apps seem to be working as they should. I'm satisfied with the results and can accept the limitations. As a side note, the surround sound test app referenced in Jeff's article worked really good.
