Jan 18, 2010 · The workflow I used was: create the high-poly sculpt in ZBrush, create the low-poly game mesh using the topology tools (QRemesher FTW), and then bring all that geometry into Mudbox to do the Ptex …

Dealing with Ptex displacement — xuan prada

Sep 22, 2015 · As you probably now, Zbrush doesn't support Ptex. I'm not a super fan of Ptex (but I will be soon) but sometimes I do not have time or simply I don't want to make proper UV mapping. Then, if Zbrush doesn't export Ptex and my assets don't have any sort of UV coordinates, can't I use Ptex at all for my displacement information? Yes, you can use Ptex.

SYSTEM SPECS - Pixologic : ZBrush

    https://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/
ZBrush runs the same on Macintosh and Windows. Choosing one or the other is a personal choice. A fast processor with multiple cores is a key item because ZBrush is only CPU based. Oct 13, 2011 · no uv does not exist. the engine ALWAYS has to feed UV into the pipeline to render any texture at all. ptex for realtime is a totally horrible idea unless I missed something about it, because instead of no "UV" you get quadruple the vertices (one for each quad edge onto which you paint) as it generates local UVs all over the place to remove the need that you have to do a correct, optimized UV ...

May 31, 2012 · But why do we still need UV mapping if PTex made it easier? Well, not all renders or game engines deal with Ptex mapping. Thats why we still need to work with UVs. Curiosity: Vray Render works fine with PTex (Does Anyone know another one?) For this example, I chose a 3D Model from the 3DS Max demo folder.
