NOTE: Currently UE4 doesn't support updating subregions of a texture so you have to update the entire thing every frame or you will end up with garbage in places. In the DX11 runtime the texture creation is done with D3D11_USAGE_DEFAULT not D3D11_USAGE_DYNAMIC.

Spectator View does not currently have built in support for dynamic textures. If you are trying to film an experience compared to provide a second view point, a less than ideal workaround would be to fake this content in a video.

Nov 16, 2016 · I'm very interested in using dynamic texture (run-time managed/updated) but it doesn't seem like Unity expose an API targeted for that usage. Am I correct with this assumption ? My goal is to update rectangular regions of a texture on a frame basis in C#. The API seem limited to float4 pixel write, or entire texture update (also in float4)

Mar 28, 2005 · Wait a sec. You don't have to create a texture as a render target to be able to lock it. You just have to be able to access it from system memory. But that doesn't mean that it must ONLY reside in system memory. Use D3DPOOL_MANAGED and you'll be able to lock your textures just fine without having to make them rendertargets. neneboricua
