    Aug 25, 2011 · If you found a dos boot cd--that does actually boot to dos--then someone must have modified it for sata support. You should probably take a look at its config.sys and autoexec.bat (if they show on the cd) and see what they did.

It tries all the usual dos-based mechanisms in its auto-exec/config.sys files and finally hangs. That forced me to find something else - I discovered TeraByte's free trials and their bootable floppies and cd's all work.

There is much that a DOS boot CD will not do, much that others will, and they are as easy to download, burn and boot. The DOS CD is therefore a distraction because DOS is so obsolete it is crippled by comparison.
