If your GPU has compute capability 1.3 then you can do double precision. You should be aware though that 1.3 hardware has only one double precision FP unit per MP, which has to be shared by all the threads on that MP, whereas there are 8 single precision …

Apr 23, 2012 · The result you are getting from the GPU is the correct single-precision result. When I compute sqrt(2) to double precision on the CPU, then assign the result to a single-precision variable, the result is 1.4142135381698608e+000. I know nothing about DirectX 11, but I have two questions. Does HLSL support a double precision square root operation?

Feb 24, 2017 · Does the GTX 1060 support double precision? What is it's double precision throughput in Gflops. I couldn't find any information on this on the NVIDIA website. Is there any table which details the double precision capabilities of the NVIDIA GPUs. The only …

The Kaveri APU will use gcn which supports 1/4 fp32 rate, so fingers crossed we might see ~250 Gflops double precision by the end of the year. It's more likely the rate will be 1/16 like Kabini. Although they could make one that was 1/4. so Kaveri will probably be about 62.5 Gflops double precision.

Jul 10, 2014 · GPU's excel at doing many FLOPs a second. If you were to expand them to use 64 bits instead of 32, you would be sacrificing a huge amount of space on the chip so that every floating point core could handle it. Generally speaking, for graphics, 32 ...
