Sep 11, 2014 · We've been experiencing significant noise from under the car while under load be it accelerating or going up hill. I almost thought it was a lose heat shield but that seems not to be the case. Dealer notified us the drive shaft would have to be replaced as well as a bearing and I'm assuming it's the center support bearing for the shaft.

Sep 02, 2014 · I don't know if I'd recommend that quite yet. The carrier bearing is resiliently mounted to reduce noise transmitted into the frame. The bearing itself should be tight on the driveshaft and not have any play between the metal parts of the bearing, but there should be some give between the bearing and the frame mount.

Feb 13, 2010 · While the noise was minimal in my case, the vibration felt in the seat was the most noticeable. If you remove the drive shaft for inspection / replacement of the center bearing, don't neglect to check the universal joint. On some later models the U joint can be replaced. Unfortunately on the 1990 the entire driveshaft must be replaced.
