Sep 26, 2011 · I am using the Miktex texify command if that makes a difference (it can output pdf or dvi). The epstopdf package seems to perform the conversion on every compile, and there are no converted pdf files remaining after the compilation process completes. I am using Miktex 2.9, so is there a better way to include eps files? Thanks for your you help btw.

Convert your .dvi output to pdf format with dvipdfmx or dvips+ps2pdf, or use pdflatex to compile your .tex file to get pdf output directly. Then you can preview the result with a pdf viewer. DVI format does not support any image itself. Although MiKTeX's Yap can display eps figures in .dvi files, but the result often wrong, especially you transform the images.

Dear colleagues, I use MikTeX 2.8. When I write articles, using the YAP viewer, inverse dvi works perfectly well: I can travel from the dvi file to the source file in the expected way (by double clicking). But when I prepare Beamer presentations, and use the YAP viewer, this does not seem to work.

Jun 28, 2010 · I found a solution by changing the registry entry in HKLM\Software\Classes\MiKTex.dvi.2.8\shell\open\command: from the actual Yap.exe address, to a fake one (pretending Yap.exe were located on the desktop). However, I have no idea why it has worked. Do you have any clue? Federico

The patch solving the DVI viewer problem under MiKTeX 2.5 is available at the download page. The 0.5 beta release will be ready in about two weeks. 2006–08–18. LEd version 0.46 beta works well with MiKTeX 2.5 with one exception: the biuld-in DVI viewer is incompatibile with MiKTeX 2.5. We are working to correct this, so please be patient.

This problem occurs sometimes when compiling a tex file with latex and using a dvi viewer like YAP. Not sure what exactly causes the problem. In my case, I used MikTex 2.9 to compile a tex file and yap.exe that came along with the MikTex distribution to view the dvi file.
