We can define “EIGRP for IPv6” as the enhancements that is done in EIGRP for IPv6 support. Basically, EIGRP protocol is the same protocol but it has some additional properties at this time.

Jan 20, 2018 · IPv6 Routing: EIGRP Support. Customers can configure Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) to route IPv6 prefixes. EIGRP IPv4 runs over an IPv4 transport, communicates only with IPv4 peers, and advertises only IPv4 routes, and …

Feb 18, 2016 · Hi Micheline, IPv6 support in EIGRP can be achieved in two ways. Either using ipv6 router eigrp <AS-number>, or by using EIGRP named mode which supports both IPv4 and IPv6 in the same EIGRP instance using address-families just as you see it in BGP.. EIGRP named mode is enabled by using an instance name instead of an AS-number.

Implementing EIGRP for IPv6. Although EIGRP is a Cisco proprietary protocol, it and its predecessor, IGRP (IGRP is an obsolete protocol and removed from production in Cisco IOS 12.3 and later), have been widely deployed in enterprise networks.

Was studying for CCNP exam 642-801 and read this about IPv6; "The IP routing protocols that support IPv6 are RIPng, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP-4, as of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2T and later." I know that IPv6 is not widely used yet. What happens to those using EIGRP? This link only mentions implem...

To configure the EIGRP for IPv6, it is essential to have the knowledge about EIGRP IPv6 and IPv6 addressing. Configuring the EIGRO for IPv6 has few restrictions too. The interfaces may be directly configured with the EIGRP for IPv6, without any use of the global IPv6 addresses. There is no network statement in the EIGRP for the IPv6.

Cisco’s EIGRP is one of the routing protocols that is suitable for IPv6. Configuration is a bit different and in this lesson I’ll demonstrate to you how to configure it.

- [Speaker] EIGRP for IPv6 which I'll lazily call EIGRPv6 has more similarities than differences with IPv4 for EIGRP. This being the case, I'll outline a few of the differences. EIGRPv6 advertises IPv6 prefixes and links rather than IPv4 information. EIGRPv6 is encapusulated inside of IPv6 headers.
