Before you can compile ELinks with Lua support, you must compile and install Lua. The following instructions are for a Linux system. People on other systems should try to enable popen support, but this is not necessary (you will lose a bit of functionality though). Download and unpack the Lua tar.gz or zip somewhere. cd into the lua directory.

Javascript support is not available by default. Both it and elinks have an --enable-javascript compile flag. By default, "{JavaScript support was removed in release 2.1pre29 because it was buggy.}" So in other words... I probably wouldn't bother with links and elinks.
