Can I just enable/configure InnoDB in /etc/my.cnf and restart MySQL, or is there more to this than meets the eye? I should add that this is a MySQL environment built from source (running on CentOS 5.5 x64) and we plan to use the InnoDB plugin rather than the built-in InnoDB capability.

Sep 15, 2011 · If it is disabled in the /etc/my.cnf with that "skip-innodb" line, simply commenting out or removing that line, then restarting MySQL will enable InnoDB to allow the user to utilize it. As for a higher cost associated with InnoDB, if InnoDB tables corrupt, then MySQL itself will refuse to start.

Apr 09, 2015 · Which version of MySQL 5.5 are you running? InnoDB is the default engine in MySQL 5.5, and ignore_builtin_innodb was deprecated in 5.5.22. Try removing the ignore_builtin_innodb line, as well as the reference to the plugin, and restarting MySQL.
