Users using Etherpad with Internet Explorer 7+ may have an issue where they cannot load a pad as it seems to get stuck on "Loading". To fix this issue the user will need to enable native XMLHTTP support by going to: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, scrolling down to security and ticking the box next to Enable Native XMLHTTP Support, then click OK.

From here make sure Enable native XMLHTTP support is checked (like in the image below) and then click OK. If the setting is not available or grayed out you may need to contact your IT administrator. After adjusting this setting, reload the web page and it should function as expected.

Aug 15, 2017 · It seems that the window.XMLHttpRequest is always working on IE 8 and IE8+ no matter that the Enable Native XMLHTTP Support" option is checked or not.
