Dec 26, 2009 · The new MAC operating system, Snow Leopard, as well as older Leopard and Tiger Operating systems support reading NFTS natively, but do not support writing to NTFS drives. Using FAT32 is a good alternative, as you can both read and write to FAT32 on snow Leopard or Tiger Machines. But the file size is limited to 4GB which makes it useless for backups.

Sep 22, 2009 · Worked out in my favor. I used NTFS-3G + MacFuse on Tiger and Leopard before, and the transfer speed is much slower to my external hard drive. I thought it was because of my Macbook's USB 1.0 ports. Now that I use native NTFS read/write support from Snow Leopard, I see that it was NTFS-3G + MacFuse that slowed me down.
