Oct 03, 2016 · Visio 2016 pro isn't allowing reverse engineer of database. I just bought Visio Professional 2016 for the purposes of reverse engineering a database. I have gone to File -> New -> Software -> Database Model Diagram and chose the crow's feet type.

Visio Standard does not include the Database Model Diagram template. Visio Professional and Premium editions support the reverse engineering features for the Database Model Diagram template (that is, using an existing database to create a model in Visio) but it does not support forward engineering (that is, using a Visio database model to generate SQL code).

I have Visio 2016 professional installed, which by all my research should support database reverse engineering. Every guide I find says to go to the Software and Database category and select "Database Model Diagram" for the Database tab to pop up with the option for reverse engineering.

Just make sure to set a couple of properties first. In AutoCAD, make sure that the active tab is a layout tab, and not the model tab.
