Sep 01, 2018 · You say you ended your employment on ill health terms, do you receive any income from this? The letter you received could mean that because of income your or your partner receives then you're not entitled to any income related top up. If he doesn't receive any income and he doesn't work at all then you should be claiming ESA as a couple.

Sep 01, 2018 · I've been on CB ESA Support group since 2013 and have received ESA since becoming disabled in 2011 with a progressive disease. CB ESA as I used to earn good money up until 2010. Am I not supposed to now be on Income based ESA? There are so many more benefits in being on IB. Any ideas please. Thanks in advance.

Income Support for the sick and disabled. Before the introduction of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) on 27 October 2008 you could get Income Support if you were sick/disabled and unable to work. Some existing claimants remain on Income Support on this basis but will be transferred over to ESA eventually.

We were expecting the letter to state the contribution based amount and then the income related top up so it was clear he was still on Contribution ESA with top up rather than giving the total as an Income Related amount.
