Aug 01, 2007 · No native support due to the physical limitations of VMOTION and USB but there is a solution that works for me. It's a USB over IP solution from DIGI AnywhereUSB. I have VM's that need USB security dongles. So I have this over IP solution in place incase I Vmotion my vm's to different physical hosts it wont effect the USB connection.

Long story short, turns out ESXi 5.1 doesn't really support USB 3.0 in the way you might think. In other words, if your system running ESXi 5.1 has USB 3.0 ports, that's nice!
