    Feb 07, 2011 · Ok so i have 2 Mac's one mini and a mackbook pro. the pro is running 10.6.6 and the mini is running 10.5.8 i have an external hard drive in exfat format and i can read and write to it. when i plug it into the mini it will not read it.

I know that I could always reformat it to FAT32, but the file size limitations of that format are less than ideal. As I need to use the disk with Windows and OS X, is there anyway to force exFat reading/writing on 10.5.8? Thanks

For those versions, they could read and write to an exFat drive that was created by Windows, but if you created the exFat drive from the Mac, you couldn't read or write from Windows.
