OP - I can tell you for certain that this game always had controller support out of the box. I owned Fallout 3 for PC on disc, long before I ever owned the GOTY on Steam. The GOG version assuredly has gamepad support, because GOG wouldn't have the ability to take it out. Yeah, but it isn't as good as Mouse and Keyboard.

Apr 01, 2009 · Does the PC version of Fallout 3 support a controller? just as the title says, because under settings -> Devices i see mouse keyboard and my controller listed but when i try to change the key configuration for the controller some keys respond and the others don't, and when i resume play the game doesn't respond to any key i push in the gamepad.

Jun 05, 2019 · In Fallout 3, the controller itself is fully supported by itself, but the catch with this is, that if you have a controller plugged into a USB port while playing Fallout 3, you can't use console alongside a 360 controller without unplugging the controller, opening the console and typing what you have to, because of Bethesda being Bethesda.

Oct 28, 2008 · Well, I came across a much better fix than mapping the gamepad to keyboard and mouse inputs: emulate a 360 controller. The result: the Fallout 3 software recognizes the gamepad as a genuine Microsoft XBox 360 controller. All it takes is copying two files into the same directory as Fallout3.exe. I use a Logitech wired dual analog controller.
