Mar 26, 2016 · IMO and based on my research, SyncToy is very unreliable. In my Windows 10 system, it doesn't sync new files/folders. Moreover, it deletes files and folders in the destination even though I've set it to "Echo", and the source files and folders are intact.

Aug 05, 2010 · I haven't synchronized my laptop with synctoy since. I don't want to loose the files again. I DO want the files on my laptop but something on my laptop is causing the files on my network drive to be deleted. Does a person just rename the local folder and setup synctoy again to copy the files over?

Symbolic files (NTFS Junction does not support a single file): SyncToy 2.1 can sync a symbolic file which is currently created before the incoming sync session, BUT it cannot sync any subsequence update of a synced symbolic file. (Sorry for the inconvenience. There were user suggestions on further supporting NTFS junction folders.
