I can't hold out high hopes: adding more AppleScript support has been on in the bug tracking system for 17+ years and doesn't seem to have any momentum. Probably your best bet for now is to find hacks other people have posted rather than waiting for a more complete API on Firefox's side.

Add AppleScript support and capabilities to Mozilla on Mac OS 9 and X. This would include the Scripting Dictionary which is built-in to AppleScript compatible Mac applications, adding a Script menu to the menu bar, and adding "launch AppleScript" as an option in message rules.

Since Firefox doesn't have any AppleScript support you'll need to rely on UI scripting. Of course, Firefox's non-standard UI doesn't help either but it's still possible.
